Carpenter Tan (2005)
Our experience with a Chinese manufacturer. In summer 2005 we were contacted by this particular company. Only four years earlier, the founder of Carpenter Tan was selling wooden combs from his bicycle around his home town, Chonquing. By the end of 2004, his business had developed into a corporation with over 400 franchise-stores all over China.
Our mission was to assist Carpenter Tan in becoming a major manufacturer for wooden furniture, household items and haircare products, adressing the fast growing number of Chinese upper-middle-class house owners. The concept was promising: to merge western design and Chinese craftsmanship.
